Welcome to this MIAM website
This is one of several websites that contains content from the Malaria Institute at Macha. The institute was formally established in 2003, after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by four partners, namely the Ministry of Health of the Government of Zambia, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Macha Mission Hospital and MMRI (a US-based 501(c)3 non profit).
We use this particular web page to highlight updates from our work at Macha.
Who are we and what do we do?
Our institute is located in rural southern Zambia near Choma, and affiliated with Macha Mission Hospital, a 200 bed full service hospital established by the Brethren in Christ Church in 1957. We believe that malaria, which exerts a huge toll on the children of sub-Saharan Africa, is potentially controllable. Therefore, we use our energy and resources to conduct research on this devastating disease, with a goal of gaining a better understanding of how to bring down the untolerable burden, in both suffering and death, of this disease.
